SIZING

Which ring size will fit perfectly?

Read 3 min

A ring that spins or pinches will stay in the drawer. Sizing is quick when you measure correctly — especially for surprise gifts and international finger standards.

Measure when fingers are normal

Fingers swell in heat and shrink in cold. Measure in the evening at room temperature for the most reliable fit.

If you are between sizes, go half a size up for wide bands; narrow bands can sit true to size.

At-home methods

Wrap a strip of paper around the knuckle you want the ring to pass over, mark the overlap, and measure the length in millimetres. Match to an Indian/British size chart.

Borrow a ring that already fits the same finger and measure its inner diameter with a ruler — more accurate than guessing from shoe size.

Surprise gifts

Trace an existing ring on paper or press it into clay. Your jeweller can estimate size within a quarter size.

For solitaires, slightly loose is safer than tight — resizing down is easier than stretching thin shanks.

When to resize

Plain gold bands resize cleanly. Full-eternity diamond bands often cannot be sized much without disturbing the line of stones.

If weight fluctuates seasonally, consider a comfort-fit band or a sizing insert for occasional wear.
